Makro crime scene Thousands of pounds were stolen in the car park robbery in Aberdeen

A vehicle that may have been involved in an armed robbery on a security van in Aberdeen has been recovered, according to police.

A grey 4x4 vehicle, similar to one seen driving at speed in an "erratic manner" from the scene, has been found in the Cults area of the city.

A man threatened a security guard, with what is thought to be a metal bar, in a Makro store car park at about 12:30.

The robber made off with a "low five-figure" sum of money.

The incident, involving a G4S van, happened at the Makro in Wellington Circle in the Altens area of the city.

Victim shocked

The man involved was described as being in his mid 20s, about 6ft tall, of "athletic" build, with stubble.

He was wearing dark clothing and spoke with a local accent.

No-one was injured but the victim was left shaken.

Officers have appealed for any witnesses to contact them.
