Indecent images search man Derek Reid put on probation

A man who sparked a major search after going missing when due to be sentenced for possessing indecent images has been placed on probation.

Derek Reid, 46, from Fraserburgh, was found after the search at New Aberdour beach three weeks ago which followed the discovery of his car.

A warrant for his arrest had been issued at Aberdeen Sheriff Court after he failed to appear.

He was placed on probation for three years on Thursday.

Reid was also ordered to carry out 250 hours of unpaid work, and has been put on the Sex Offenders Register.
