A 24-year-old man who died after the motorbike he was riding collided with a car on the A90 Aberdeen to Dundee road has been named.

Greg Mitchell, 24, of Newtonhill, was travelling north when his bike was in collision with a southbound Ford Focus near Portlethen on Wednesday.

Relatives said in a statement: "We are devastated that he has been taken from us so soon.

"Greg was much loved and will be sorely missed."

The driver of the car, who was 52, was treated for burns.

The road where the crash happened, about seven miles south of Aberdeen, was closed for several hours.

It caused major delays.

Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses.
