Woman dies in car and lorry crash on A947 at Oldmeldrum

A woman has died after a crash involving a car and a lorry in Aberdeenshire.

It happened on the A947 at Oldmeldrum at about 18:00.

The woman, who was in her late 20s, was the driver of the car. She was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but her injuries were fatal.

Police Scotland said the road would remain closed for several hours, with diversions in place, while investigations were carried out.

"All three emergency services attended the scene. The casualty was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and there were no other casualties," a police spokesman added.
