Mary Gillespie named as woman killed in A981 crash near New Deer

A 32-year-old woman who died after her car came off a rural road in Aberdeenshire has been named.

The crash, involving a silver Ford Ka, happened at about 18:00 on Wednesday on the A981 near New Deer.

Mary Gillespie, from the New Deer area, was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but later died.

The road was closed for five hours while an investigation was carried out. Police have appealed for witnesses.
