Simple Minds to headline Stonehaven Hogmanay party

Simple Minds Simple Minds are to play at Open Air in the Square

Scottish band Simple Minds are to headline Stonehaven's Hogmanay party, it has been announced.

Frontman Jim Kerr and his bandmates will be at the town's Open Air in the Square event, which runs alongside the famous fireballs ceremony.

They count Don't You Forget About Me among their biggest hits.

The event will cost more than £200,000 to stage. Tickets go on sale from Saturday.

David Lawman, spokesman for the Stonehaven festivals and events committee, said: "This is simply a dream come true for us. We are thrilled and delighted these music legends have agreed to come to Stonehaven for our big Hogmanay party."
