A90 Balmedie to Tipperty upgrade bid goes to Holyrood committee

A90 The aim is to make the A90 a dual carriageway between Balmedie and Tipperty

A man has taken his bid to bring forward work to make the busy A90 between Balmedie and Tipperty a dual carriageway to the Scottish Parliament.

Improvements to the stretch in Aberdeenshire are being combined with the Aberdeen bypass project which is due for completion by 2018.

Murray Cooper told MSPs on the public petitions committee he wants the work carried out as near to the original 2013 estimate as possible.

The committee kept the petition open.

Advice and information will be sought from Transport Scotland, the Scottish government and Aberdeen City Council.

The upgrade will provide continuous dual carriageway between Aberdeen and Ellon, aimed at improved safety and faster journey times.
