Shell's Shearwater North Sea gas field shut down

A North Sea gas field was shut down overnight after an unplanned production halt.

The Shearwater is operated by Shell, with gas from the field flowing onshore through the SEAL pipeline.

A Shell spokesperson told BBC Scotland: "Shearwater has been shut down for unplanned maintenance since last night.

"We expect it to be back on stream shortly."
