Cost of Total gas plant at Sullom Voe 'up £500m to £3bn'

The cost of a new gas plant next to the Sullom Voe terminal has risen by about £500m to £3bn, it has been announced.

Sullom Voe handles production from fields off Shetland.

The new adjacent gas plant is being built by the French company Total.

Total said price increases for equipment was to blame. Senior executives said they still expected gas from the North Atlantic fields to start flowing through the site in the middle of next year.
