Sport Aberdeen staff suspend strike

Industrial action by union members at Sport Aberdeen, scheduled to begin later this week, has been postponed following "constructive" talks.

There were fears the strike could have closed some of the city's sports centres and swimming pools.

The Unite and GMB unions now put possible solutions to their members.

Management at Sport Aberdeen say the changes are necessary to help claw back a £500,000 budget shortfall.

Sport Aberdeen is the charitable trust which runs swimming pools and leisure centres in the city.

The GMB Union last week called for the city council to take back the running of the leisure centres and employ the staff again.

The industrial action has been suspended for seven days.
