Aberdeen begging by-law plans put on hold

Plans by Aberdeen City Council to bring in a by-law banning begging have been put on hold until later in the year.

The controversial proposal was announced in January and was expected to come before the authority next month.

However, finance convener Willie Young said it would now be May at the earliest before the next move was made.

The homelessness charity Aberdeen Cyrenians earlier said it would only worsen the problems of the vulnerable.
