Accountant 'embezzled more than £1.2m'

An accountant has told a court he embezzled more than £1.2m to fund his own amateur drama production and pay for luxury holidays for his bosses.

David Johnston, 41, started working with Aberdeen-based Capelrig Ltd in 1998, Peterhead Sheriff Court heard.

He has admitted embezzling £1,246,917 but pleaded guilty on the basis that he was acting with two others, named in court as a Mr and Mrs Hill.

The hearing, before Sheriff Gregor Murray, continues.
