Grampian festive drink-drive figures see reduction

The number of drink-drivers caught in Grampian over the festive period has fallen compared to the previous year, police have said.

A total of 46 drivers were reported between 3 December and 4 January, compared with 57 in the same period 12 months ago.

Fourteen were between the ages of 17 and 25.

Three people were detected driving under the influence of drugs, a reduction from seven last year.

Ch Insp Ian Wallace, head of road policing, said that any reduction was welcome, but that it was "both disappointing and frustrating that so many people were still ignoring the drink-drive warnings".
