Police have urged drivers to take extra care after more than 70 collisions - including two fatalities - in Grampian over the weekend.

Richard Plaine, 32, died after a crash on the A97 near Huntly on Friday, and a 28-year-old woman died after a collision on the A96 on Saturday.

Grampian Police said 77 collisions was at least double what would be normal.

Ch Insp Ian Wallace said: "The presence of poorer driving conditions is being included as part of our inquiries."
