Man struck by van at Wester Durris named as Timothy Jones

A pedestrian who died after being struck by a van in Aberdeenshire on Wednesday night has been named by police.

Timothy Jones, 37, died on the B9077 South Deeside Road at Wester Durris. Mr Jones was from nearby Kirkton of Durris.

Grampian Police said emergency services were called out at about 19:20 on Wednesday.

Mr Jones, who had been hit by a Volkswagen van, died at the scene.

A police spokeswoman said: "Police are renewing their appeal for anyone who may have seen Mr Jones walking in the South Deeside road area towards Kirkton of Durris to get in touch."
