A 21-year-old man has appeared in court charged with raping a woman in Aberdeen.

The 22-year-old woman was attacked in Bedford Avenue, in the Powis area of the city, last Saturday morning.

William Fraser appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court charged with abduction, assault and rape. He made no plea and was remanded in custody.

The incident led to Grampian Police launching one of its biggest-ever investigations, involving 135 officers.
