Orkney Ferries staff to be balloted for strike action
Staff at Orkney Ferries are to be balloted for strike action in a dispute over pay.
The RMT union said it would begin posting ballot papers to members next week.
It is expected to be concluded by early December, and the union said this would allow any possible action to take place over the December and January period.
Orkney Ferries provides a service between Orkney and several island destinations.
Earlier in the week it was announced ferry crews working on the Orkney and Shetland routes would be balloted for strike action.
It follows plans by new operators Serco Northlink Ferries to cut up to 36 jobs.
