Northern Isles Serco ferry crews to be balloted
Ferry crews working on the Orkney and Shetland routes are to be balloted for strike action.
It follows plans by new operators Serco Northlink Ferries to cut up to 36 jobs.
The RMT union said ballot papers will go out to its members in the first week of November, after being left with what general secretary Bob Crow described as "no option".
It warned that strike action could take place over the Christmas and New Year period.
