Police at the crash scene The fatal crash happened at Aberdeen's Beach Esplanade

A man has appeared in court after a woman died in a crash at Aberdeen's Beach Esplanade.

Council worker Jacqueline Lyon, 47, of Cove, died after her red BMW was involved in a collision with a black Volkswagen Golf last Monday afternoon.

Andrew Carney, 23, of Stonehaven, was charged with driving and drugs offences at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.

He made no plea and was bailed, but a Crown appeal against bail saw him remanded pending the outcome.

Earlier, Grampian Police revisited the scene a week on, and made a fresh appeal for potential witnesses.
