Further E. coli cases found in Orkney

Two more cases of E.coli infection have been confirmed in an outbreak on Orkney.

Two people are already receiving treatment in hospital after contracting the bug.

The latest confirmed cases are both said to be recovering at home, and were among three cases which had been suspected.

One new suspected case is also being investigated although has not required medical treatment.

NHS Orkney said there had been no indication of a link between the original two confirmed patients.

The director of public health, Dr Louise Wilson, said: "We are working to try and identify a source for the infections."
