Moray Council's wind farm ban refused by Scottish Government

A ban on new wind farm developments cannot be imposed by Moray Council while it updates its planning policy, the Scottish government has said.

The authority's members unanimously backed calls for the moratorium, while a public consultation continues on how it should treat applications in future.

However, local government minister Derek Mackay refused to allow the council's moratorium.

The Scottish government said it would be an unprecedented step in planning.
