Kemnay's Grove Care Home concerns raised

Concerns have been raised about patients at an Aberdeenshire nursing home potentially having access to areas where chemicals are stored.

Inspectors found sluice rooms at the Grove Care Home in Kemnay - which had a very hot water supply and where cleaning chemicals were located - were unlocked.

They also said more could done to prevent patients getting ulcers.

Owners Meallmore said improvements had been made since the inspection.

The Care Inspectorate made the unannounced visit last month.

They said they discovered that a reassessment of a resident's risk of developing a pressure ulcer was not triggered when she lost weight and her skin condition deteriorated.

Meallmor said a special training course for all staff had been set up to improve consistency of approach in evaluating pressure sore treatment plans.

Access to the sluice rooms had also been restricted.
