Aberdeen City Council to employ almost 40 home carers

Almost 40 home carers are to be employed by Aberdeen City Council to meet a growing demand.

A report to the urgent business committee highlights the private sector having difficulty recruiting staff, and claims agencies can be unwilling to take on patients with complex needs.

More than 50 elderly people with what was described as a "high level of need" are currently waiting for home carers.

Council leader Barney Crockett said it was a very positive step.
