Grandmother dies and children injured in A90 Aberdeen crash

Police investigators have been examining the scene of the collision

A 73-year-old woman has died and six others, including her daughter and two grand-daughters, have been injured in a crash near Aberdeen.

The collision, which involved two vehicles, happened on the A90 at Blackdog, a hamlet north of the city, at about 15:00 on Sunday.

Three men travelling in the other car were also injured and were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The road was closed for several hours while investigations were carried out.

The two children involved in the crash were aged five and eight. They were also taken to hospital, along with their mother.

The three men in the other car were aged between 22 and 23. One of the them suffered injuries which police said may be life-threatening.

Grampian Police said four people had to be cut free from the vehicles.

In a separate incident on the A95, near Keith, a man was airlifted to Raigmore Hospital with serious head injuries after he came off his motorbike.
