Youths cause River Dee canoe search alert in Aberdeen

Two youths caused a major rescue operation after upturned canoes were spotted on the River Dee in Aberdeen.

Coastguard, police and lifeboat teams joined an RAF helicopter in a search of the water, after the alarm was raised at at about 18:45 on Thursday.

The search was called off about 45 minutes later when the youths were traced safe and well.

It is believed the canoes had been taken from nearby Duthie Park.
