Fire rescue trawler Denarius towed to port

Denarius Six crew members were airlifted after the vessel caught fire on Monday afternoon

A fishing boat gutted by fire is being towed back to port as an investigation into the blaze gets under way.

Six fishermen were airlifted to safety from life rafts after the Banff-registered Denarius caught fire off Orkney on Monday.

The crew were rescued safely by coastguard helicopter and taken to hospital in Lerwick for checks.

The Marine Accident Investigation Branch will carry out inquires into what caused the fire.

The Scottish government marine patrol vessel Jura helped another fishing vessel secure a tow on the Denarius, which is now being towed to Macduff.
