Appeal after elderly dog found on Aberdeenshire road dies

Dog found in Durris The dog was thought to be at least 14 years old

An appeal for information has been made after an elderly dog found in a "terrible" condition at the side of a road in Aberdeenshire died.

A member of the public spotted the male collie cross-type dog - thought to be at least 14 - by the A957 at Durris.

He was taken to the Scottish SCPA's rescue and rehoming centre but died.

Ch Insp John Carle said: "It may be he had strayed away from home but there's also a possibility he was abandoned when he desperately needed help."
