Offshore catering workers narrowly reject strike vote

Offshore catering workers have narrowly voted against taking industrial action over a pay offer.

About 2,000 workers voted on whether to accept a 4.1% pay offer from the Caterers Offshore Trade Association.

The result showed 49.3% voted in favour of strike action, with 50.7% against.

The Unite union said it was "surprised" at the result, and that it would begin negotiations over next year's wage offer.
