Aberdeen's Union Square retail development has recorded its highest first quarter footfall since opening, it has said.

Union Square - which hosts shops, restaurants and a cinema - opened in October 2009 at a cost of £275m.

Management said more than 3.2m people visited between January and March, a 28% increase on 2010.

General manager Ryan Manson said Union Square was a "success story" in a tough economic climate.
