Longhope lifeboat calf rescue film in Pentland Firth emerges

The crew rescued a stranded calf on the island of Swona

Footage has emerged of a lifeboat crew rescuing a trapped calf from the foot of cliffs in the Pentland Firth.

The Longhope lifeboat crew was out on a search and rescue exercise when they noticed the calf had fallen to the edge of the water on Swona.

The small inshore rescue vessel was launched and the calf was successfully picked up and taken back to safety.

The RNLI video of the rescue, which took place on 8 April, has now been posted on YouTube.
