Church of Scotland official Dr Steven Mallon resigns after audit
A senior figure in the Church of Scotland has resigned, BBC Scotland has learned.
A spokesman for the Kirk confirmed that Dr Steven Mallon, secretary of the mission and discipleship council, had left his post.
He said it was for personal reasons and there would be no further comment.
In a further statement the Church of Scotland said it has been carrying out an internal investigation into its financial processes.
It said a routine audit check identified issues which required investigation, and appropriate action was being taken.
The Church said that would include the clarification of rules, guidelines, processes and the on-going training of staff.
It said there would be no further comment as it was an internal matter.
