US businessman Donald Trump is to give evidence on renewable energy to MSPs at Holyrood on 25 April.

The economy and energy committee had earlier asked Mr Trump to appear but had not set a date.

The tycoon has been a vocal opponent of plans for an offshore wind farm near his golf course in Aberdeenshire.

Meanwhile, the Trump Organisation has submitted plans to Aberdeenshire Council for its entrance to the Menie Estate, including a clock tower.

A planning application for the wind farm off Aberdeen Bay, 2km (1.2 miles) from Mr Trump's planned golf course, was submitted to Marine Scotland in August last year.

The European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre is a £150m joint venture by utility company Vattenfall, engineering firm Technip and Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group.

The Trump Organisation has said it may spend £10m fighting such developments.
