'Sticky ending' Orkney robbery bid admitted by Christopher Baird

Shop worker Euan Brown hit Baird over the head with the tape and he fled

A would-be Orkney thief who was fought off by a worker with a sticky tape dispenser has admitted assault and attempted robbery.

Christopher Baird, 18, of Finstown, attempted to steal money at knifepoint from Baikie's Stores on 18 February.

Euan Brown was working behind the counter hit him over the head with the dispenser.

Sentence at Kirkwall Sheriff Court was deferred for background reports and Baird was remanded in custody.
