Tributes have been paid to a teenager killed in a horrific crash in an Aberdeenshire town.

Brendon Main, 19, from the Cults area of Aberdeen, died after the accident in Newburgh early on Sunday.

Mr Main was a passenger in a car which hit a number of parked vehicles. He later died in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Dozens of friends have been paying tribute on a Facebook page, with one writing: "You may be gone but you will never be forgotten."

Two other people were injured in the incident.

Grampian Police Sgt Neil Morrison said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the young man whose life was lost in this incident."

He added: "Our investigation is at an early stage and I am asking anyone who witnessed this collision or who may have any other useful information to contact Grampian Police.

"That said, I am also keen to hear from anyone who may have either witnessed the crash or who may have any other information that would allow us to progress this enquiry and who has not already come forward to contact us as soon as possible."
