Elgin cat 'poisonings' probed by Scottish SPCA

The deaths of three cats in Elgin from suspected anti-freeze poisoning is being investigated by the Scottish SPCA.

All three cats were from the Brodie Drive area of the Moray town.

The Scottish SPCA is now trying to establish if the poisonings were accidental or deliberate.

Senior inspector Lesley Crockett said: "There could be a spill, though we can't rule out the possibility that these cats have been targeted."

She added: "People should check they have not spilled any anti-freeze and that they don't have a leaking engine, while owners should contact a vet immediately if they have any concerns their cats may have been poisoned.

"Symptoms include cats staggering and being sick, dehydrated and weak."
