Man detained after university evacuation in Aberdeen

A man was detained under the Mental Health Act after a University of Aberdeen halls of residence was evacuated.

A bomb disposal unit was called to the Hillhead halls of residence on Saturday.

About 35 students had to leave as a result. No-one was injured.

A Grampian Police spokesman said inquiries were ongoing. The force would not comment on media reports a student had been trying to make drugs.

A University of Aberdeen spokeswoman said a student had been "behaving in a way that was causing concern".
