Man remanded for 'attempted murder' of pregnant woman

A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a pregnant woman was stabbed in Aberdeen.

Steven Ross, 36, made no plea or declaration at the city's sheriff court and was remanded in custody.

The 29-year-old needed hospital treatment after she turned up at Cairncry police office with injuries, at about 2335 GMT on Wednesday.

She was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where her condition was described as not life-threatening.
