A new sighting of a teenager mysteriously missing in Moray since Hogmanay has been reported.

Aidan McPherson, 19, was last seen in Elgin last Friday after leaving a party.

Searches have been under way since, and Grampian Police now say he was seen talking to a woman in her 20s on Newmill Road at about 2340 GMT.

The force urged the woman to come forward. Mr McPherson's disappearance is said to be totally out of character.

The woman - spotted near the junction of Calcots Road - was said to be wearing a white jacket with a furry hood, light-coloured jeans and knee-high boots.

She was also carrying a black handbag.

Grampian Police Det Insp Paul McCruden said: "We would appeal for this woman to come forward as she may have information which could assist our enquiry."

A search from the air has now also been taking place.

Revisit scene

Civilian air search service Sky Watch has been helping with the hunt, along with divers and sniffer dogs on the ground.

Officers investigating the disappearance will revisit the Newmill Road area between 2300 GMT on Friday and 0100 GMT on Saturday, a week after the teenager was last seen, in the hope of obtaining more information.

Earlier this week, making an appeal to her son, Aileen McPherson said: "Please, please come home Aidan."

Mr McPherson is described as being about 5ft 5in tall, of slight build, with short, fair hair.

When last seen, he was wearing a dark jacket and jeans.
