Police have appealed for sightings of Charlotte Hornby

A 24-year-old woman whose body was found at Inverness' Ness Islands at the weekend has been named by police.

Charlotte Hornby's death has been treated as "unexplained". Police said it was possible it had been the result of a tragic accident.

Her body was discovered in a burn at the Ness Islands near Island Bank Road at about 17:20 on Sunday.

Police Scotland has appealed for information from anyone who may have seen Ms Hornby earlier that day.

Ms Hornby was understood to have been walking home after a night out.

She was wearing a black leather jacket, black dress, black tights and was carrying a tan coloured handbag.

Floral tributes have been left close to where her body was found.
