Death of woman in Inverness treated as 'unexplained'

A police investigation is under way after a woman was found dead in Inverness.

Police Scotland said her body was discovered at the Ness Islands near Island Bank Road at about 17:20 on Sunday.

The woman's death has been treated as unexplained and officers remained at the scene on Monday morning.

A police spokesman said officers were trying to identify the woman and where she had been before her death.

He said: "Police Scotland would appeal to members of the public who were in the Ness Bank area and the Islands Bank Road area of Inverness in the early hours of Sunday to contact them on 101 with any information."
