Navy search team finds hillwalker's body in Glen Etive

Ben Starav Rescue services were alerted after the man failed to return from a walk on Ben Starav

The body of a hillwalker has been found in Glen Etive by the crew of an Royal Navy search and rescue helicopter crew from HMS Gannet at Prestwick.

The alarm was raised at about 20:00 on Saturday after the man failed to return from a walk on Ben Starav.

Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team searched for the man but the team was stood down at 04:00 on Sunday because of bad weather.

The search resumed at 08:00 and the body was found at 13:17 on Sunday.

The discovery was made at Coire Lotha and the body was taken by helicopter to Fort William.

Lochaber and Oban mountain rescue teams, search dogs and the RAF were also involved in looking for the man.

He has not yet been named by police.
