A ward has been closed at a hospital in Inverness due to a suspected norovirus outbreak.

Ward 6C at Raigmore Hospital has been closed to new admissions after patients and staff experienced symptoms which are suggestive of the bug.

NHS Highland said enhanced infection control precautions had been put in place.

Hospital bosses said they were working to ensure as little disruption to existing patients as possible.

So far there is one confirmed case. Symptoms of the norovirus include vomiting and diarrhoea.
