The former Highland castle home of ex-Rangers owner Craig Whyte has been put up for sale for offers over £1.1m.

It emerged last week he had signed over Castle Grant, near Grantown on Spey, to the Bank of Scotland.

The bank had taken Mr Whyte and his estranged wife to court over mortgage arrears on the property.

Estate agents said improvements had been made to the building but a large part remained undeveloped and would need investment.

The four-level home is surrounded by mature parkland gardens, a landscaped loch and open views to the hills of Cromdale as well as about 35 acres of private land.

Kevin Maley, of estate agents Strutt & Parker, said: "Castle Grant is a wonderful property which is absolutely ripe for development which could lead to it being one of the premier private houses in the UK."
