Lewis woman admits causing another woman's death in crash

A woman has pleaded guilty at Stornoway Sheriff Court to causing another woman's death by careless driving.

Caroline Mackay, of Newmarket, Lewis, pleaded guilty to driving at excessive speed and losing control of her car near Stornoway on 20 August 2012.

Karin Prior, 51, a passenger in a car Mackay's vehicle hit, died at Western Isles Hospital.

Children's occupational therapist Ms Prior was living in Lewis but was originally from Ontario in Canada.

Sheriff David Sutherland called for background reports and deferred sentence to a later date.
