Work has started on the construction of a 1MW hydro electric scheme near Achnasheen in Wester Ross.

Perth-based company Green Highland Renewables' £3.5m plant is being built by the Inverness office of construction firm Morgan Sindall.

It is the fourth project in the area being developed by Green Highland Renewables.

The firm hopes to start supplying electricity from the scheme in December this year.
