Police searching for a missing hillwalker in the Outer Hebrides have found a body.

Edward Jackson, from the Preston area, was last seen on Saturday in the Maraig to Urgha path area of North Harris.

The discovery followed a search by coastguards and police as well as volunteers from HebSar, the isles' voluntary mountain rescue team.

Formal identification has not yet taken place, but the 55-year-old's next of kin have been informed.

Mr Jackson, also known as Ted, was on a walking holiday in the Western Isles.
