Body found in Glen Nevis confirmed as Alistair Porteous

A body found in Lochaber last week has been confirmed as being that of Edinburgh man Alistair Porteous.

The 56-year-old experienced hillwalker was reported missing and his car was later found in Glen Nevis, sparking a search involving more than 80 people.

A helicopter and search dogs were also involved. The body was found in the glen.

Police Scotland said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

In a statement, Mr Porteous's family said: "Our family are relieved that the search is over and that Alistair has been found.

"We are grateful to the amazing team of volunteers co-ordinated by Fort William and Lochaber Mountain Rescue."
