Danish project engineering company, Semco Maritime, is to set up a rig refurbishment base in the Cromarty Firth in the Highlands.

The Cromarty Firth Port Authority (CFPA) said its deal with the firm would bring £5m of foreign investment to the area.

The CFPA-owned Invergordon Service Base has been operating for 40 years and handled more than 650 rig visits.

Semco facilitates the design, building and maintenance of drilling rigs.
