Ice warning for parts of Scotland after long wet spell

The Met Office has issued a yellow "be aware" warning for ice in parts of Scotland on Friday and Saturday.

Forecasters said freezing temperatures could be a problem where there was flooding and large areas of standing water following recent heavy rains.

The warning covers all western parts of Scotland, Caithness and Sutherland, the Northern Isles and Western Isles.

The Met Office said the warning covered a period from 21:00 on Friday to 10:00 on Saturday.

Wintry showers down to lower levels have also been forecast.
