Musicians helped an injured woman down off Ben Nevis after coming across her during a challenge to walk to the top of Great Britain's highest mountains.

The Three Peaks Brass Band found the young walker, who was in jeans and trainers, on Saturday evening.

She had injured her knee and was on her own without water, food and extra clothing, band members said.

The band was undertaking an attempt to reach the summits of Ben Nevis, Scafell in England and Snowden in Wales.

They completed the challenge, which involved performing on the top of each peak, in 24 hours.

The effort was in aid of the MS Society.
